FAMILY & LEGACY SPOTLIGHTS
Capture the essence of your loved ones and family through a heartfelt documentary-style production that immortalizes their memories, stories, and wisdom. Through the power of visual storytelling, we will work together to craft a video that will become a timeless treasure for years to come.
Life changes in the blink of an eye — kids are born, grow up, move out, and start families of their own. Loved ones share their stories, their wisdom, and eventually pass them on.
We help you hold onto those moments before they're gone. Whether you want to capture your family exactly as they are right now, or preserve the stories and wisdom of a loved one for generations to come, we craft documentary-style videos that become timeless treasures.
Two main ways to preserve your story:
FAMILY SPOTLIGHT
Savor this moment, forever.
Family Spotlights are professionally filmed videos that showcase your family right here, right now. Months and years from now, you'll be able to come back to this exact chapter of life - the voices, the laughter, the little conversations that make it unforgettable.
For each session, we sit down with your family members and ask 10-15 questions about their lives, then capture video and photos of your family in their everyday world.
LEGACY SPOTLIGHT
Capture a lifetime of wisdom.
A Legacy Video is a documentary-style interview, typically 30-45 minutes, that immortalizes a loved one's memories, stories, and wisdom. Through visual storytelling, we craft a video that becomes a lifelong treasure — and a wonderfully unique gift for any member of the family.
How these SPOTLIGHTS work:
Book us. Contact us and book your date. Once scheduled, we'll start preparing questions together.
Lights! Camera! Action! On your scheduled date, we travel to you and set up cameras, lights, and audio equipment. Then we let the camera roll and capture your family or your loved one's story on film.
The Big Premiere. You'll receive your digital video approximately 2-4 weeks after filming.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
We want your video to be your own – truly unique – so you will know best what questions to ask your loved one. It may be helpful to brainstorm with your family about key topics you want to capture in the video. That being said, we can gladly help you uncover those questions that will make for a good video.
For Legacy Spotlights, some topics to consider are:
Stages of life such as early childhood, school years, or working years
Significant relationships such as parents, grandparents, spouse, and children
Major milestones, such as a first job or a move
Important experiences
Interests and hobbies
Lessons learned and personal philosophies
Here are a few typical conversation starters to help get you started:
What is the earliest memory you can recall?
Tell me about a time where your values were challenged.
What is the biggest difference between today and when you were growing up?
Share with me how you met your wife/husband.
For Family Spotlights, we recommend questions tied to the chapter of life the person being interviewed in.
For children:
What do you want to be when you grow up and why?
What is your favorite thing about your family?
What is the hardest part of your life right now?
For adults/parents:
What do you enjoy most about being a parent?
What do you want your kids to know about “this chapter” in life that maybe they don’t realize or see?
What gives you joy as a parent?
-
There are a couple ways to do this.
Option 1: Another family member conducts the interview, as people typically open up more to their own family members than to strangers.
Option 2: One of our skilled interviewers asks the questions.
Either way, we will work hard to see that all the technical details of cameras, audio devices, and lighting equipment are running at optimal levels during the interview.
-
No worries – just let us know after the shoot and we can make sure it’s not part of the final presentation.
-
Absolutely. Photographs and other items such as newspaper clippings, hand-made items, medals, etc., supplement a Legacy Film very well. We can collect photos when we film your video and return them shortly after we have scanned them. Other items can be filmed on location.
-
Of course! Anything that your family member likes doing, we'd like to include. Those things add a great personal touch and make your video unique. If there is something that we can highlight, we will work that into the location selection and film it on the day of the interview.

The high-definition video is presented via a digital link for download. Physical media like discs or flash drives are available upon request for an additional charge.
-
We highly recommend that you download and back up your video to a cloud service.
However, we back up all final presentations to a cloud server to ensure these Spotlights can last long into the future, too.
-
While every video is unique, you can expect your video 2-3 weeks after filming.

Share the cost with several family members and give your loved one a gift they won’t forget. We will even provide you with a certificate to help you present your gift.
